It all started when..
3 academics (Victoria Basham, Aaron Belkin and Alison Howell) got together at a workshop in 2011 on Military Methods hosted by Newcastle University's Military Research Team. Realising there was no obvious space for the output of scholarly work and multidisciplinary forms of critique such as film and photography, or for engaging with policy debates and activism, focused on critiquing military power, they decided to set up a journal. In 2015 the Taylor and Francis Journal Critical Military Studies was launched with the indispensable help of Jess Gifkins. In 2016 when Editor in Chief, Victoria Basham joined Cardiff University, her colleague Huw Bennett became Co-Editor in Chief.
